CHECKLIST
The Birds of Times Beach

This is more or less the official bird checklist that is used to catalogue the species of birds that have been observed at Times Beach Nature Preserve since about 1990. All of the birds are seasonal. Some migrate, some breed. Some of the birds are rarities. You cannot expect to see all of these birds all of the time.   If you see a bird, or any species of wildlife that is not listed here, of if you think is unusual, please consider using eBird, and the Times Beach Nature Preserve hotspot page: https://ebird.org/hotspot/L811486

Bird species in GREY text  was compiled by Dr. Robert Andrle and Gerry Rising who compiled the list as a part of an application to make Times Beach an Important Bird Area. It is because of this work, Times Beach is today regarded as the Western Gateway to the Niagara River Corridor Globally Significant Important Bird Area.

2018 has been a banner year to add birds to our checklist. Thanks to birders Shelly Siedman, Sue Barth, and Josh Ketry, and others, several new birds have been observed at Times Beach, reported, and added to our official checklist. They appear in RED Text.
